Fruit Check: What Is Your Life Bearing This Season?

Coach Dimps

Sis, let me ask you something real quick: if somebody walked past your life this week and pulled a piece off the branch, what would they taste?

Because it's fall. Harvest season. Everybody's posting pumpkin patches and apple-picking pics, and I love that for us. But while we're out here picking fruit, Heaven is asking a different question: What fruit you bearing?

Not what you're wearing. Not what you're posting. What you're bearing.

One Fruit, Nine Flavors

Here's the word that started this whole collection:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."
— Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV)

Now catch this, because it changed how I read it. Paul said fruit. Singular. Not "fruits." It's not a buffet where you pick the three you're good at and skip the rest. It's one fruit with nine flavors, and the Holy Spirit grows the whole thing in you.

So no, you don't get to say, "Well, I've got joy, but patience? That's not my gift." Ma'am. It's not a gift. It's a fruit. And fruit grows.

Fruit Is Grown, Not Glued On

You know that bowl of fake fruit on somebody's auntie's dining table? Looks good from the doorway. Get close and it's wax and dust. We can do that too. Church face on Sunday, side-eye by Tuesday. Peace in the caption, chaos in the group chat.

Real fruit doesn't come from trying harder. It comes from staying connected.

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
— John 15:5 (NKJV)

Branches don't strain. They don't grind. They stay attached, and the Vine does the heavy lifting. Your job isn't to manufacture kindness at 7am when the kids are acting up and your inbox is on fire. Your job is to stay connected to the One who produces it. Prayer, the Word, worship, your people. That's the connection. The fruit is the result.

Your Weekly Fruit Check

Grab your coffee (or your tumbler, I see you) and get honest. No condemnation. Just a check-up:

  • Love: Did I show it in action, or just in emojis?
  • Joy: Did I let my circumstances steal what God gave me?
  • Peace: What did I let in that should've stayed at the door?
  • Patience: Where am I trying to rush God's timing?
  • Kindness & Goodness: Who felt better after being around me?
  • Faithfulness: Did I keep my word, to God, to others, and to myself?
  • Gentleness & Self-Control: Did I respond, or did I react?

If you found a few bruises on the branch, welcome to the human race. That's not a verdict. That's information. Now you know exactly where to invite God in.

Want to make this a habit? Write it down. The What Fruit You Bearing? Spiral Bound Journal was made for exactly this: weekly fruit checks, prayers, and receipts of what God is growing in you. Future you is going to want to read those receipts.

When the Fruit Feels Slow

Let's talk about the flavor nobody orders on purpose: patience. (Longsuffering, if you're reading King James. And yes, the "suffering" part is right there in the name.)

Some of y'all are in a season where you've been watering, praying, and showing up, and the branch still looks bare. I've been there. Bare branches can make you question everything. But hear me: a tree in winter isn't dead. It's rooting.

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
— Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

That's the whole heart behind the Fruit of Patience "God Isn't Finished Yet" Tee. Some mornings you need to read your own shirt in the mirror before you walk out the door. You're not behind. You're not broken. You're growing.

Wear the Question

Let me keep it real: the shirt is not the fruit. A tee can't make you patient, and a tumbler can't make you kind. Only the Holy Spirit does that work. But what you wear can be a reminder to you and a conversation starter for somebody else.

That's why the What Fruit You Bearing? HERO Tee is the heart of this collection. It's a question you wear on your chest, so you can't dodge it yourself. And for the sister in a season of guarding her heart, the Fruit of Peace "Protect Your Peace" Tee says it for you, so you don't have to explain why you're not RSVP'ing to the drama.

Faith Looks Good On You. Let it show, and let it be real underneath.

This Week's Challenge

Pick one flavor of the fruit. Just one. Pray over it Monday. Watch for it all week. Write down every place you saw God grow it, even a little. Next week, pick another.

You're a King's Kid. You were planted on purpose, and what God plants, He grows. Stay connected to the Vine, let Him prune what needs pruning, and get ready, because harvest is coming.
